You’re ready to hit the road. You’re packed, the car’s packed, everyone's packed, so don’t leave your necessary information behind.
It’s illegal in most states to drive without proof of insurance in your vehicle. Make sure you have your current car insurance information with you before you hit the road. You don’t want to be ticketed in a different state because you packed the expired insurance card.
It’s also a good idea to pack your health insurance card just in case you’re in an accident where you have injuries or have other health problems on the road.
You should always take your driver’s license when you get behind the wheel. You never know if you may get pulled over or need it for other instances to prove your identity. You may also need your ID to buy things with your credit card in other cities and states.
If you plan to leave the country on your trip, you’ll need your passport to enter other countries and to reenter the U.S.
